I went to listen to my friend speak at a Harmony Day function. A strong Muslim lady, a great force in her community. Two recurrent themes emerged as she spoke. ‘God is great’ and ‘there will be a day of reckoning’.
It was not what I expected, and the phrase ‘God is great’ stuck in my mind, with a recollection that Jesus had said something similar.
I tracked it down in Luke, in the account of the Sermon on level ground in chapter 6, verses 35 and 36.
‘God is good to the ungrateful and the wicked, be merciful just as your Father is merciful’.
These two little verses would change my mind and change my life.
