Patti Smith – Horses
I was already a fan when I first heard this record over 30 years ago, and it blew my socks off.
After I converted to Christianity, I gave the record away because I didn’t know how to cope with Patti’s denial of salvation at the beginning of Gloria.
I missed this record badly, and embraced the chance to have it back in my collection. I must be more mature, and my world has seriously moved on since those days. I understand the sentiment now, and the animosity towards a church which denies the decent existence of gay people.
The whole record is just as fresh and exciting as ever. Love it.
Patti Smith will get another album in my top choices too!
