A primary characteristic of the reformed church is the doctrine of justification through faith. In the Anglican church the doctrine is embraced warmly in Article XI of the thirty nine articles of religion. The articles are beautifully and lovingly written in the passionate style of the reformation.
XI. Of the Justification of Man.
We are accounted righteous before God, only for the merit of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by Faith, and not for our own works or deservings. Wherefore, that we are justified by Faith only, is a most wholesome Doctrine, and very full of comfort . . . . . . . .
His roman holiness demands retreat from this doctrine, confession of another five sacraments and submission to his authority. Surrender without compromise.
Some Anglicans attempt camouflage of their identity to facilitate reunion.
